The Toff, as this Swanston Street bar is known to locals, has the atmosphere of a private club. It’s divided into distinct spaces, an operation area that plays host to jazz and cabaret sets and a bar with red leather chairs, but best of all is the partitioned space full of comfy curtained booths like an old fashioned railway carriage. There’s an old fashioned glamour to the place, without mentioning an air of the illicit, one feels one could get up to allsorts in the privacy of those booths, though you’re probably best of sticking to the excellent drinks and above average nibbles.
